Figure 3. Starbucks logo over the years. Obtained from "Starbucks faz redesign de sua marca." DESIGN on the ROCKS. N.p., n.d. Web. 21 Apr. 2014.
The name Starbucks originated from the book Moby Dick. It evoked the romance of the high seas and the seafaring tradition of early coffee traders. The green siren was chosen to represent Starbucks because sirens were seductive, mystical creatures. (Company, Starbucks. 2014) The siren also has two tails instead of one. The starbucks logo has drastically changed over time. The color has gone from brown to green. The color was changed from brown to green because it made customers feel clean and fresh. The logo started with four words, went down to two, and now the words are gone. The logo also looked more like a mermaid and now looks more like a lady. The logo has changed over time for many reasons. Starbucks likes to grab people's attention by changing things. When Starbucks changes something it interests people. It draws people in to see what is going on with the company. (Wang. 2014)
